- Ventura Homeless Prevention provides rental assistance to residents of the City of Ventura who need one-time, temporary help with their rent and who need just a few hundred dollars or do not qualify for help from the County HPRP program (You can see their flyer online here ).
To qualify for help from Ventura Homeless Prevention you must document that you meet the following three criteria:
- 1. you have been paying rent to live in the City of Ventura for at least the last ninety days;
- 2. you have had an unusual expense or temporary loss of pay that prevents you from paying your full rent yourself just this one month (you must document a loss of pay or additional expense or combination of the two that adds up to at least the amount of assistance you are requesting); and
- 3. you will be able to pay your rent yourself again after this one-time assistance of up to $1800.

7. Dollar amount of your rent that you cannot pay yourself
8. Reason you cannot pay your full rent this month
9. How you will pay your rent in full next month
10. Dollar amount of total monthly household income and the source and amount of each part of it (include amount of each salary or benefit, food stamps, child support, etc.)
11. Total household monthly expenses

Please provide the following documents:
* Your lease Documents that provide evidence of the temporary problem(s) causing you to be unable to pay your rent (medical bill, loss of pay, car repair receipt, etc)
- * Documents that provide evidence of income (Pay stubs or income/benefit statements or, if new job and no pay check yet received, letter from employer showing date work to begin and dollar amount to be received each month)
- * A budget showing monthly amounts paid for rent, utilities, food, car payment, gasoline, auto insurance, cell phone/cable, medical, loans, etc.
- * Utility statement and other major bills .
